Shooting video in war, hurricanes, accidents & fire: What was I thinking?
I’m shooting handheld with a prosumer HD camera in March 2003 Baghdad, listening to gunfire and bombs going off, choking on smoke. What am I thinking? ‘wide shot, pan left; wide shot, pan right; medium shot, soldier running; close-up, feet running…’
You’re shooting a hurricane, a fire, an accident…what are you thinking?
How do we do it? I want to share the way my brain works when I’m behind a camera in difficult or dangerous environments. I’d also like others to share experiences that can help everyone record better video and audio in the future.
