How might machines be better editors?

It is unlikely that we can avoid the data-driven newsroom of the future, and as that happens, it is fair to ask whether the machine can actually serve the overall objective of the publisher better than a human editor. There is no doubt that machines can maximize revenue better, but they might actually also be better at maintaining editorial tone and keeping integrity intact.
